Hi, I'm Lisa.
I'm a licensed therapist who works with children, teens, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, stress, and relationships.
My approach is empathetic, down-to-earth, and focused on real-life change. I believe therapy should feel supportive and useful. I'm here to not only help you better understand yourself, but actually equip you with tools for success.
I work closely with children, teens, and families to navigate challenges such as anxiety, emotion regulation, behavioral concerns, and family conflict. My approach is collaborative and developmentally appropriate, helping kids and teens build skills to better understand and manage their emotions while also supporting parents in responding in ways that feel effective and connected. When working with families, I focus on improving communication, reducing conflict, and helping each member feel heard and understood. I have experience supporting neurodivergent children and families, and I tailor my approach to meet each child's unique needs.
Relationships can be one of the most meaningful, but often also one of the most challenging, parts of our lives. In couples counseling, I help partners slow down patterns of conflict, improve communication, and better understand one another's perspectives. My approach is balanced and nonjudgmental, creating space for both partners to feel heard while also working toward practical, meaningful change. Whether you're navigating ongoing conflict, life transitions, or feeling disconnected, we'll focus on rebuilding trust, strengthening communication, and creating a more supportive, connected relationship.
I specialize in supporting my clients who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, or intense emotions. Together, we work to better understand the underlying patterns contributing to these experiences while building practical tools to manage them more effectively. My approach combines insight with real-life strategies, helping you develop coping skills that actually work in everyday situations - not just in session. Whether anxiety shows up as constant worry, panic, irritability, or emotional shutdown, we'll work at a pace that feels manageable and supportive, helping you feel more steady and in control.
I am a dually licensed mental health professional, holding the designations of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisor Status(LPCC-S) and Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT). My foundation for this work is a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from The University of Akron, completed in 2012, which provided extensive training in both individual and relational therapy models.
During my professional career, I have gain advanced training in evidence-based therapy models that help my client gain practical skills that foster long-term change in their lives. The training I received through The Beck Institute in Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R) takes a collaborative, strengths-based treatment approach that focuses on promoting empowerment, recovery, and resilience for individuals experiencing significant mental health challenges. I have also completed extensive training In Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) - with a focus on applying this approach to my work with children and teens. This treatment modality focuses on emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness skills to help my client to manage intense emotions and behavioral challenges. To further my knowledge of being in the present moment I recently completed a Mindfulness Facilitator Certification which allows me to guide clients in various mindfulness techniques, which are powerful tools for increasing self-awareness, reducing stress and fostering emotional stability.
